Another Cotswold Cozy Hard to believe this is Agatha #15. This time around, she's opened her own sleuthing business, and her first big case involves death threats, and a narrowly averted attempt, made against a local deb. The clues fall like rain for the alert reader, and it's not too difficult to spot the 2 cases of mistaken identity, and the who's, hows, and whys. But Beaton always offers light, fun reading, and what this one lacks in suspense, it makes up for with its Cotswold charm and wry humor.
Agatha's Returns as a Pro Detective This was a really good mystery...more complex than some of the other books on Agatha have been. It gave time to develope other characters and that is a good thing. If there is one thing this series needs is depth and I hope this is a trend that continues...Good! You will like this one.
Another fantastic Agatha Raisin book!! I am addicted to Agatha Raisin - MC Beaton has created a real, loveable, multifaceted, endearing character. Agatha wants to be strong and independent but also struggles with her self-esteem and her looks, like every woman.
Such a great story, although there were a few details that were not very believable (like someone putting their bank card PIN inside their purse. I don't know anyone who has ever done that!!), but this was still a winner!
One of the best authors This author has the ability to pull you into the story. I fell in love with the character even with all her flaws. I have read all of the series and I hope she's writing the next one.
Agatha goes back to work This is the 15th in the Agatha Raisin series of cozy mystery novels.
Agatha has once again found life in her Cotswolds village a bit on the boring side. Since deciding to retire early and sell her successful London PR firm at the beginning of this series and fulfilling her childhood dream of moving to a quiet country cottage Agatha has managed to keep herself busy. She has joined into village life, (usually with diasterous results), acquired two cats, had several romances and even gotten married (with unquestionably disaterous results). She has also managed to get involved in an incredible amount of murders and had her life endangered on several occasions but lately things have been just a bit slow so she decided to take a short trip to Paris.
Poor Agatha, the charming hotel turned out to be a bit disappointing, the weather turned unbearably hot and then she had her purse stolen. Frustrated by the police indifference to this crime Agatha decided to return home and go into the detective business.
Once her agency was up and running she quickly discovered that she has plently of busines and needs more staff. Among the mundane cases of straying pets and spouses a distraut mother arrives asking for protection for her daughter who had received a death threat. Agatha soon found that there was much more to this case than met the eye, including a charming man. Accompanied by the usual cast of characters Agatha manages once again to solve the crimes ahead of the police.
This is a typical series cozy. The mysteries involved are definitely secondary to Agatha's personal life and friends. There is more of an on-going storyline here than is often found in series mysteries so, while they could be read and enjoyed in any order, it would probably be better to read them as much in order as possible.
