Nice book, but i could have...? I've seen a numer of horror flicks. Mainstream, obscure, low budget and just bad. I've seen more than some contributing writers to Fangoria. If you do not believe-place a bet! I'll take your $$. This book covered some cool movies-no doubt about it. But most were mainstream at some time or another. Not to say they were bad, they were good horror flicks. I could dig up some more obscure flicks to...What is the point? They nailed some good flicks, just not what would have made my list. If Shockwaves did not make the list, then something is wrong.
Very good, two page summaries, b&w pics, trivia tid-bits, but you've probably seen 20 of 'em I'm not a big horror fan by any stretch, but I've seen a bunch of these. They probably included some as "must see" films. I like the fact that they include some foreign films or foreign directors. Most reviews are two pages, include a summary of the movie, something about the actors' other work, trivia about the movie and a black and white picture. Definitely worth the money.
great guide The book is an excellent resource for Cult film fans through the latter 20th century. Some of the movies referenced are good examples of true grindhouse horror fare.
Good book I'm a huge horror movie fan and I found this book very enjoyable. All entrys are well written, short reviews and are in alphabetic order and have a few pictures. I bought ten dvds after reading some of the reviews for the films. Two of my favorite films are including in this book: The Changeling and The Dentist. Ive seen at least tweleve movies or more in this book and some movies aren't worth watching once. Some movies dont even sound that great, making me wonder why the put it in there. Then again, everyone has there own opinon to what they like. I got critized once for not liking a horror film and someone said I didnt like horror movies at all because I didnt like one film. Idiot. All in all, a good pickup for a horror movie fan who wants to see something they have not yet.
A Handy Friday Night Reference Tool Ever step into a movie rental store wondering what movie ya might want? Reading this book definitely comes in handy for situations like that one. This guide has a phenominal list of horror movies and great information about all of them. The blurbs about each title are all well-written and informative without giving away anything about the endings. Although you may not agree with how good each movie is that's been listed, they're all definitely worth checking out at least once. I've bought/rented many of the titles from this book and enjoyed most of them. Adam Lukeman's list of horror movies is invaluable for those moments where ya just don't know what flick ya feel like checking out.
