Excellent read! This was a great book. i enjoyed it as much as the first one, if not more. I can't wait for the next one!
A complete waste of money! I love reading Regency Romances, but some are better than others. I have never read one written by Ms Schroeder before and I certainly will not be reading one again! Why did the author have to set this story in the Regency times when the banal plot seemed more suited to modern western world, such as Bridget Jones diary? Ms Schroeder seems to have very little grasp of how people behaved in those times, for instance nobody would say 'okay', and a Duke would certainly know who an Earl in the Beau-monde was.It was so silly and so un-erotic and so far from becoming one of my precious 'keeper'books that it became a'tosser'--and that is what I did with it half way through!
A GREAT SEQUEL - VERY TENDER AND SEXY! Brimming with incredible tenderness, charm and witty dialogue, LESSONS IN SEDUCTION makes its appearance, the second in the Accidental series by Melissa Schroeder.
Lady Cecily Ware has adapted well to life with her "family". Her shadowed past (crazy father and a mother who tried to murder her cousin Sebastian's wife) is one of the reasons why she is now firmly on the spinster shelf. At the age of six and twenty, she has no illusions of any marriage offers - even though her dowry is quite substantial. She is plain and has not received any attention in years.
Cicely is quite determined not to let her spinsterhood deter her from her plan: she may have been removed from the marriage mart - but she will experience passion to the fullest. Having made a list of the eligible rakes of the Ton to give her lessons, she sets out to fulfill her quest. At the top of her "list" is Douglas, the Duke of Ethingham, a man she has been in love with for as long as she can remember.
Hiding secrets of his own, Douglas has been unwilling to commit to any relationship. When Cicely boldly propositions him in the middle of a waltz, he is not only shocked by her bold request, but is stunned to realize that there is more to the woman he has looked at like a sister for so long. When he staunchly refuses her offer, Cecily is quite disappointed but she is determined to fulfill her desires.
Unwittingly, by being herself, Cecily slowly reveals an inner beauty that utterly captivates Douglas, who is mystified why he has never noticed this charming and intoxicating woman before.
Unwilling to admit to his attraction, but unable to even consider Cecily with any other man, he is even more astounded when Cecily appears at a musicale a changed woman. Every man is stunned by the appearance of the new voluptuous and curvaceous Lady Cecily, much to Douglas' aggravation! Where has the woman been hiding such incredible curves?? Worse, now he is going to have to fight every man in London to keep them from drooling at her overly generous bosom!
Just as they realize that there is no denying their mutual attraction and feelings for each other - a sinister force threatens Cecily and suddenly she is the victim of murderous attacks.
Charming and delightful. With superb character interaction, wonderful repartee and sublime sexual tension that builds to a crescendo, this is a jewel of a Recency! You will read it in one seating!
A Book to Keep and Reread! I first purchased this as a ebook but after reading it I liked it so much that I bought it in paperback. The characters are in depth and I found myself laughing at the heroine because she is so funny and independent. I enjoy books by Melissa Schroeder. This is definitely a keeper!
Lessons in Seduction-A Joyfully Recommended Title! At age of twenty-six, Lady Cicely Ware is considered to be quite on the shelf. She's quite determined however, not to let spinsterhood keep her from knowing what it feels like to experience passion and she quickly comes up with a list of rakes that she believes will be able to teach her. She's always been halfway in love with Douglas, the Duke of Ethingham, so during a waltz she propositions him. Douglas is stunned when Cicely asks him to seduce her and quickly refuses. Although Cicely is disappointed she resolves to move on to the next gentleman on her list. However, very much against his will, Douglas discovers that he can't allow Cicely to be in anyone's arms but his. As they begin a sensuous journey, Douglas is stunned to find that every moment in Cicely's company makes him only want her more. As they finally begin to realize that they are falling deeply in love, Cicely's life is threatened and Douglas will do whatever is necessary to protect her. As the attacks continue can he find the person responsible before it's too late?
Without a doubt Melissa Schroeder gets better with each and every book! I love historical romance and admit to being a bit of a historical romance snob, so it takes a lot for me to truly become absorbed in a book in this genre. Melissa Schroeder's Accidental series has certainly hooked me and Lessons in Seduction is a scrumptious feast that all readers of romance will want to devour!
