 The REAL 12 Dancing Princesses
My daughter (age 4) is a big fan of the Barbie movies. I admit, they are surprisingly well-made, but I like to make sure she knows that Barbie did not invent many of those stories, so Santa gave her this book last Xmas. She loves it, and it hasn't diminished her joy in the movie at all, only added to it. The illustrations are lovely.
 An old classic revisited
"There once was a king who had twelve daughters, each one as clever and beautiful as the next."
Originally told by the Brothers Grimm, this version has been beautifully illustrated by Jane Ray. The pictures are geogeously detailed and in bright colours. Each page has a fullsize illustration.
I love this story, but as with old fairy tales, it does have some old stereotypical gender roles that are politically incorrect.
