 The Last Adventure of Life
As I sit in Olympia's Blue Lotus Cafe finishing the new 2nd edition of Maria Dancing Heart's spiritual anthology, The Last Adventure of Life, I look around at pictures on the wall from various sacred traditions, and I know I'm "accidentally" in just the right place for this review.
Rev. Dancing Heart is a Christian minister as well as a hospice counselor, but she's the kind of Christian who is just as likely to use a passage from the Buddha as the Bible. In this comprehensive collection drawn from her wide experience in caring for body and soul, there is plenty of excellent guidance for being involved in someone else's death (not to mention our own!). But as I notice the subtitle, Sacred Resources for Living and Dying from a Hospice Counselor, I realize the significance of the first four words, as the book has helped to pull me out of my own mental quicksand, which had nothing to do with my physical health.
Stephen and Ondrea Levine have this to say: "This is skillful advice from a revered hospice worker who speaks from the deep experience of a true heart." Not only a true heart, but of course a dancing one. Thank you, Maria.
