Customer comments on this selection.
Dancer The writers wrote this book for ballerinas so they can learn that it's hard to balance ballet, family, school, and friends. The writer of this book is Lorri, Hewett; it's about a young girl in high school trying to become a famous ballerina. This book is good for young dancer's older ones to.
The audience for this book is mostly ballerinas because; it includes word such as paruets, or tondues, and arabesques. The vocabulary might be too hard for some young kids. For others it may not be as hard.
The writer's voice is mostly friendly and serious and some times objective. For friendly a young guy in the book asks her if she would like a ride home. She said yes. Serious, someone tolled her to work on her tondues.
This book gives a lot of information about dancing and what type of dancing. In the book they are working on a dance and this dance is sleeping beauty.
They work on partnering classes also they work on to make new friends and to be experienced with other people so they if they get the chance to be in a big performance they have the experienced. Of being with another person so they are not scared.
As I say again this was a very good book but if you are not a ballerina I do not recommend this book for you only because it has a lot of words about ballet and you may not under stand but if you would like to try to read this book it is you choice. If you are a ballerina you would like this book very much because you would understand it and most of the words this is why I like this book because I dance I understood it.
Amazing book ! Ballet dancing, who knew it could give you the chance of a lifetime? The book Dancer is a great book for anyone who has a passion for dancing; ballet, street, modern, or any other dance. It shows the struggles and strife of Stephanie's life as she tries to fit in with her surroundings, but at the same time do what she lives for, ballet. I really loved this book because I also have a high passion for dancing, and want to dance for the rest of my life, just like her. The story isn't just about dancing though; it's also about family, friends, and lovers. Stephanie meets an amazing woman who teaches her how to be a beautiful ballet dancer, and she forms a great bond with her. She also meets a young man that she tries to form a relationship with, but has a hard time clicking with him. It shows the impact that people can have on you if they believe in you because it gives you confidence to believe in yourself. I highly recommend this book, it's a great one for young girls who have a dream and want to follow it.
great this book is great for ballet students. i have beendoing ballet for over 10 years now. i can really relate to it. i think it might be little hard to understand and boring if you are not a ballerina. if you are i would definitely reccomend this book then.
Dance Away This book was really good. It really was a favorite of mine. Because it's about dancing and I love dance. I passed it many times in my public library. I finally picked it up one day to read it. I absolutely loved it. Hewett is an awesome writer!
Good book for teenage dancers...but great book for all!! This book is magnificent!! It shows the beauty and graceful art of ballet. Towards the beginning, things don't come together, but towards the end its like a tied shoe. Lorri Heweet makes the main character Stephanie seem like an ordinary person like me, a teenaged girl. Stephanie's dad works for a rich private school, so she gets an automatic scholarship. But shes also very good at ballet. She goes to an academy and gets picked to be a helper to a boy who is also very skilled. Through this she meets and older lady, who gives her strength through tough days and through the world of black ballet. She feels like she can enter the Dance Theatre of Harlem. At one point she gets to do a class with them and gets a few words she'll never forget: "He stood up, smiled at us one more time, and told us to come to New York in a year and take class with the company again"(134). This book is great for girls who love to read realistic fiction. It gives a look into a serious mind of a ballerina. This book has my vote- no questions asked!!!
