LOVED IT!! From an exercise video junkie.... I bought this book from my local Half-Price books and read the entire book the first night! Who knew a MAN could write so effectively to the issues women deal with when working out--even the excuses we use to avoid it. As a person with little dance experience, I found the book easy to follow and even (gasp!) fun to use! The routine is so straight forward that I had it memorized after two runs through. This is great if you want to work out on the go. AND you CAN get a DVD for this--you have to order it directly from the cardiobarre(dot)com website. They even sell a package deal with the barre!
Great exercises, wish there was a dvd I really liked the exercises in this book. They do work your body and if you were dedicated with the program, adding in some cardio, you could see results. I thought the nutrition part was straight forward and sensible too.
I gave it four stars because I think it would be awesome if it had a dvd. It wasnt easy to follow along flipping through a book while trying to stay completely focused on your workout. All around good program- but you have to remember the girl on the front of the book probably dances(aerobically) 1-2 hrs a day. You almost need the strength moves as a dvd along with an aerobic dance inspired work out dvd.
Move Over Lotte Berk, Bar, Effinger, & Callanetics! This is the next level in ballet-based conditioning exercises, and the best "fusion" I've seen. The author was a real ballet & showbiz dancer. The program is organized into beginner, intermediate, advanced and broken down into an 8 week progression. Everything has been well thought out and organized. Their customer service is excellent, they sell a portable barre in a carry case, with the DVD that goes with this book, and the hand weights are even included. If you want more of a workout when you get accustomed to it, just use heavier hand weights. I like to use ankle weight belts for the lying leg lifts section of the mat work. I hope somebody starts a franchise in my city soon. High recommend.
Cardio Barre, the book This is a great book to get you motivated to start the Cardio Barre program. I have been working out for quite awhile, but I am short and would like longer looking muscles, which is what you will get when you do this workout and smart eating program consistently. It forces you to think about using your muscles, especially your core; your posture improves, you feel it in places where you never felt it before. I really like it. It is a little difficult to follow the exercises in the book; it ends up taking longer than the book suggests in the beginning. I will probably purchase the videos that accompany it as well, but you can only get them through the official site. Overall, I would recommend it.
I ordered the wrong item I had been ordering different cd's and when I did the search for Raising the Barre, I thought I brought up another cd. When I got the order, it was a book. Oh,well. I guess I should have looked in more detail.
I have no use for an exercise book. You need to be able to watch in on the screen while you do it. It is not easy to work out from a book.
