It's a simple tool where you jam this thing in your drain and it gets all the hair and gunk out of the pipes. Once I used it on my shower drain, water was draining faster and would not clog. I use this item every other month to get all the hair out of my pipes. Highly recommended if you can afford it.

I was also told by a man at Home Depot that you can also just use an old hangar and make your own stick prodding tool.
